So You Think You Can Sook

I was totally pumped I saw that So You Think You Can Dance was back again this year. Despite in my opinion not holding a candle to the US version, it's still entertaining (though slightly depressing to know I'll never dance that good. Except in my head, after a few bacardis).
Dance

She probably learned this move in the Choreography round

I love seeing the insane talent of some young Aussies, and sitting in the comfort of my lounge room munching tacos while they bust their arses in the gruelling top 100 week. Listening to the old dude judge say 'fella' and 'yeah' at least 17 times in each sentence, thinking how scarily similar Bonnie Lythgoe looks to her ex-husband (and U.S Executive Producer and judge) Nigel Lythgoe, and wondering if Matt in the Hat has hit puberty yet is very entertaining.

I wonder if her surname was 'Lythgoe' before they were married?

One thing I can't stand though is the sob stories, like the guy in the Brisbane auditions who is part Aboriginal/Dutch/Asian/Chinese/American/Wookie/Fingerpainter, who hasn't seen his mother cos she went to jail then he ran away from his aunty and lives with his nan. WHO GIVES A SHIT!! why can't this show just be about awesome and hilariously shit dancers? Of course, he was bloody good at dancing, and made it through.

Ricardo is wearing MAC's new matte foundation in shade 'The seagull shat on my head'

There were some good auditions, some really hideous ones, and some that I thought were hideous but the judges gushed over, which just goes to show how much I know. Then there were the downright retarded-looking people who turned out to be really good - go figure!

I'm happy to see Philippe is back, I used to take his Hip Hop classes in Brisbane and let me say that he is just as sexy in person as on TV. I don't actually remember anyone else from the auditions so perhaps next time I should make notes instead of refill my highball glass...

I think top 100 episode is on Thursday, so instead of recapping how annoying the sooking is each night, I might just say ditto for the rest of the audition eps, and eagerly await the real challenges :-D

Happy Australia Day!

Yayy! I love Australia Day, not half for the fact it's a day we can sit around drinking piss, eating bbq food and listening to the Triple J countdown/speaking shit.

I made some foshizzling lamingtons, pic below, and some Australian biccies, pic withheld because my attempt at a union jack icing-ed onto them was retarded and quite shit. ok I'll put a pic up later don't laugh.

After my 7th drink... ok 10th.... I'm wondering whether the sick day rate from Monday will be topped tomorrow, after plenty of people will have spent the day in the sun with a beer/some sort of drink in their hand and a sausage (from a sausage sizzle) in the other.

Something I was also pleased to see/hear, was a poll on news show about the idea of changing the Australian flag - something like 88% of people voted no. THANK GOD! Why would you change something that is so ingrained in the Australian culture? I get that it ties us to the UK (Union Jack) but I honestly don't understand why they would want to change it. Or what they would change it to....

Well as someone who is going to work tomorrow (note my non-use of the word 'working' in the context of working tomorrow, as I will be merely going there and not actually being productive), I should really stop drinking. On the other hand, as someone whose wine is nearing the bottom of the glass, I should really fill it up. Option B wins, and I need to log off before I drop the F bomb. Fucken see ya!

BDO and certain festival attire

mmmm love thy neighbour

The Gold Coast Big Day Out on Sunday was great - my youngest brother, his girlfriend and I had a blast. Despite the pathetic midstrength drinks (still for $8), the piles of sweaty dirty people who felt it was their duty to rub up against you at every given opportunity and what my bro and I are sure were tofu dogs masquerading as hot dogs, we had a ball.

It really was gross. Lucky the next shop sold hot chips.. tasty, tasty hot chips

Something I realised while eating my shitty hot dog (or rather, the cheesed & tomato sauced-bun after ditching the snag) was the same attire on many a young girl.

"so then i told stacey ooooyyy mooiyy gouurd, your tan looks soooyy real!"

I don't know who told girls that wearing high waisted denim shorts with your arsecheeks hanging out is a good look, but they were seriously misguided. Of course, if you're game (read: deluded) enough to wear high waisted camel-toe-inducing shorts in public, you'll be bathing in fake tan before you spend the day outside.. nothing like a few oompa loompas to match the mario brothers, kermit and miss piggy and crazy lyrca suit dudes

It's amazing they are still standing - it's effing hot

Anyway, anyone planning on going to the BDO, please leave the high waisted I-can-see-what-you-had-for-breakfast shorts at home.

Confessions of a Shopaholic (and her shoes)

I've been reading the Shopaholic book series by Sophie Kinsella after I remembered I bought the first book ages ago and never actually read it. I'm halfway through the second one now (with the third eagerly awaiting me) and was inspired to watch the movie again. I particularly loved the shoes Becky was wearing in the scene in which she and Luke (the spunky Brit with a gay last name Hugh Dancy) are dancing in Miami.

I remember seeing these somewhere before and can't for the life of me identify them, but I know I won't be able to buy them thanks to jumping on the gorgeous bandwagon too late. Nevertheless, be still my beating heart!

TGIF

Ahhh Friday, the time of the week bettered only by Friday afternoon.

I'm currently staring at my screen trying to find the motivation to work - the fact that it's Friday isn't helping, nor that I'm due to finish up at this job in a few weeks and start at a new (much more interesting and exciting) job.

Right now I'm more interested in thinking about whether or not to go to the gym this arve, what colour to paint my nails tomorrow (my current colour - Essie 'Greenport' - looks lovely, however thanks to my primitive (read: non-existant) nail painting skills, it looks uneven and is chipping), and whether I'll fit into the shorts I want to wear to the Big Day Out on Sunday.

Work is calling, that user manual for the new system isn't going to update itself, and last time I checked, you can't send emails via telepathy. Perhaps I'll snort my coffee, crank my ipod and pretend that it's a Monday and I have no choice but to work.. not a delightful Friday in which anything is possible for the weekend ahead.

Welcome!

Have finally succumbed to writing my own blog... wonder if anyone will read it or if it will just be me dribbling crap on the page and feeling like a twit with too many opinions..

I've just realised how much I have started to enjoy reading blogs, I've clicked on numerous links from the Vogue Forums to see what my fellow Voguettes like to write about in their own online narratives.

So, I thought, why not create one of my own and do the same? I like shoes and bags and clothes and home things and reading and movies and cooking and travel, why not write about these things for others to probably ignore read too?

Genius! Self-absorbed, but genius. Who doesn't love a little bit of self-indulgence/absorbance these days anyway? God knows I love reading Facebook "About Me"s describing how the user is totally gorgeous and sexy and has lots of friends but is totally down to earth and if you don't like it you are obviously an ugly loser.

Or seeing the myriad of photo albums in which girls (some guys too) have had photo shoots with as little clothing as possible (and more make up at your local MAC counter), only to label them with things like 'me being an idiot' and 'oh what a crap one' so their friends will leave 2384 comments saying 'ooohhh my gawwwd you look gawwjus babe!!!'

Reminds me of J'amie from Summer Heights High during her first speech:

'that's me being an idiot, how did that get in there'

Omg blogs are so random ;-)
